We are well into our season, giving field trips everyday to students about farm life. It gives me a chance to share my passion for farming and it’s importance to all of us. We use this land for the month of October for our ‘pumpkin patch’, but the cows are there the rest of the year. We get an opportunity to bring the kids right up in the barns to see what life is like for the cows that live there, where their bedroom is, and what the kitchen is like, and what they eat. We play around in their corn (corn box) and their hay (the hay maze) and when they come back, we leave it for them to eat. They roam around in the corn maze too, nibbling as they go. Their favorite treat when they return would be the pumpkins themselves – a sweet treat that they will finish off – down to the seeds. Thanks cows!

It feels good to finally be open! We’ve been working towards this day for 11 months, the work is done and it’s time to enjoy our customers. It was a great opening weekend! We celebrated many birthdays this weekend, lots of kids, all having a great time! The weather held – at least until almost closing time – just a few caught in the maze. We have put in a new ‘track’ for our tractor train and it’s a great addition! I think Hudson would still be riding if he could. We sure enjoy those young ones that have a thing for John Deere. The hop-a-long horses are turning out to be great family fun – nothing like beating mom and dad in a race! Best new food – ‘bloomin apples’: We wedge a great granny smith, cover it with warm carmel and hot fudge sauce, top with whipped cream and sprinkles, you just gotta come try it, made fresh! Don’t wait too long to come visit – pumpkins are ripe and ready to go – come and get them while you have the best to choose from.

See you soon – at the Thomasson Family Farm “we grow fun”

If you can make it to the patch early in the season, it is such a beautiful place with the sun shinning. This has been the week to do it. Thank you to all of you that participated, and the sunshine is turning those pumpkins orange, by the minute. We have had a great start to our field trips -we have a passion for sharing our farm with children and believe that is is important that they have a farm to ‘grow up on’! We had a glorious moment today as we witnessed a couple in the field while we were riding the hay wagon – as he got down on one knee and proposed – she said yes!! Still gives me goose-bumps! We are so pleased that they (he) choose to share such a special moment with us! Good luck to the happy couple!!
